Transmission tower testing in Costa Rica.

The Costa Rican state power company EPR and line contractor Techint have recently taken delivery of TDR2 systems for assessing the condition of concrete transmission tower foundations in-situ. The TDR2 is a lightweight portable foundation testing system that can determine both the length of foundations and the presence of base enlargements often used on towers. This is particularly useful in remote regions where control of construction and concrete quality is more challenging.

Testconsult director, Huw Williams, has recently provided on-site training on the use of this equipment and analysis of data in the coastal plains of eastern Costa Rica. For more information on the TDR2 and assessment of transmission tower foundations please get in touch.
