Scaffold and ladder testing

Vital for the continued safety of site operators, their employees and the general public, JFTS' scaffold and ladder testing service provides an independent verification of scaffold, components and fittings.

Scaffolding

Our scaffold testing can be applied to a range of temporary work systems and will confirm the performance of each individual component of the system to determine acceptability.

Testing certifies that the scaffold system is in accordance with BS EN 12811-3 2002, and that all couplers, spigot pins and base plates are compliant to BS EN 74-1:2005.

Testing offers complete confidence in the condition of your temporary structures, demonstrating due diligence on behalf of the site operator and ensuring the safety of employees and the general public.

Ladders

JFTS' ladder testing service provides an independent verification to examine if all types of ladders fulfil the British standard requirements.

Independent testing to British standards is essential in demonstrating a commitment to health and safety for employees and the wider public.

Our ladder testing can be applied to all types of ladders and will confirm the performance of each individual part to determine compliance with the British standards (BS EN 131-2:2010 and A1:2012).

JFTS tested the ability of the scaffold protection fan to catch and retain falling debris, in compliance with the European safety standards. The scaffold fan is an additional structure attached to the perimeter of the scaffolding to prevent falling debris causing damage or injury to property or people below.

The test involved dropping a rigid 12kg steel sphere from a 6m height onto the fan. Repeated three times in different locations along the fan, the test was able to demonstrate the fan's capability to protect site staff and the general public from falling construction debris.

 Scaffold fan protection

JFTS completed a cyclic load test programme on a scaffolding system at its fully equipped test laboratory in Warrington, Cheshire.

Analysis of the test results reported the looseness, stiffness, characteristic resistance and partial safety factor of the scaffold system, which gave the customer the confidence to deploy the scaffold system on multiple projects.

Scaffolding

JFTS tested two ladders that had been in use on a construction site to determine compliance to British standards.

Simulation tests were performed and it was established that the ladders were safe for continued use and not at any sudden risk of failure.
