Testconsult secures major new contract for highway developments in Ireland.
Testconsult, part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has been awarded the material testing contract for 56km of motorway and dual carriageway which aims to reduce local congestion between the towns of Gort and Tuam in Galway, Ireland.
Led by director and laboratory manager Michael Robinson, the team worked hard to secure this considerable piece of work to supply construction materials testing services, concrete, soils, aggregates and bituminous materials, to the main road-building contractor. Altogether Testconsult will supply up to eight members of staff, including a laboratory manager and technicians, routine materials testing equipment and off-site support services.
This three and a half year agreement represents a significant win for Testconsult. "The downturn in the construction industry has presented many challenges in the last three years", explained Gary Foy, director at Testconsult, "but this long term contract presents an opportunity for us to build on this success and re-establish Testconsult as the number one test house in the country."
